Machinery Mela held at Kulgam

Utilization of natural resources like water and fertile soil fully to make the State self sufficient in the field of Agriculture sector was emphasized by District Development Commissioner Kulgam, Mr. Jehangeer Mir while inaugurating Farm Machinery Mela at Agriculture Complex Kulgam. He impressed upon farmers to come forward and take the benefits of the schemes launched by the Government for boosting Agriculture production. He said awareness is basic need for bringing maximum villages under the ambit of the scheme launched by Agriculture Department and acquainted farmers about new techniques and machinery being applied in Agriculture Sector to boost the production. He appreciated the role of Agriculture department to reach out to the farmers.
Chief Agriculture Officer Kulgam, Mr. G.M. Rather while speaking on the occasion said that holding of such Melas would give a chance to farmers to express and share their ideas for which for mutual benefits. He asked youth to set up their own income generating units in Agriculture sector like Mushroom cultivation, Bee Keeping etc. which he added will not only become source of livelihood for them but for others too. He advised the farmers to take benefits of various schemes launched by Agriculture department and cooperate with the field functionaries of Department for its successful implementation. In the Mela several authorized dealers displayed their stalls.Among others present on the occasion were officers and the officials of the Department besides large number of farmers.Farmers of Kulgam purchased various Agriculture machinery including 7 power tillers, 100 irrigation pump sets and 13 power sprayers, besides 65 poly green houses, 30 vermi compost units & 100 tube wells will be established, for which Department of Agriculture will provide about Rs. 41 lakhs as subsidy component.
