Infrastructure upgradation should equally improve quality of learning: Priya Sethi

Minister releases newsletter of Women’s College MA Road

Minister of State for Education and Information, Priya Sethi today called for simultaneous improvement in quality of education and upgradation of infrastructure.Speaking at a book release function at Women’s College MA Road here today, the Minister said that while the focus has been on infrastructure upgradation, there has been no matching effort to improve the quality of learning.She said the Government has during the past three months initiated various pioneering measures to improve the quality of education in the State and the same have started bearing fruit with perceptible change on the ground. “The initiatives like model schools, smart classes, extramural activities, evening schooling and constitution of VECs are some of the measures taken by the Government to rejuvenate the educational sector in the State, she said and added that these measures have started making the much-needed difference on the ground.

The Minister said that in the months ahead, we look forward to engaging in an ongoing and robust dialogue with stakeholders on ways and means to improve quality of learning with a far clearer understanding of, and focus on, value and affordability.Earlier, the Minister released “Sham-e-Ferozaan”, “Inquiry” and College Newsletter “IQAC” published by the Government College M A Road Srinagar.She also released the books of Prof Shamas-ud-Din Ahangar, Prof Seema Naaz and Mr Saleem Parvaz on Sociology, Psychology and Learning and Development. The Minister appreciated the efforts of the College in promoting literary activities alongside academics. The Principal of the College earlier presented an overview of the functioning of the institution through a power-point presentation. The faculty members of the College and students in large numbers were present on the occasion. The students of the College also presented a colorful programme of Ladakhi, Dogri and Kashmiri on the occasion.
