Former Minister and Member AICC Mr. Abdul Gani Vakil today highlighted the achievements of the Congress party that resulted in its popularity, gaining more base and familiarity in the state which is evident from the recent joining of prominent leaders and citizens in the party. He said that joining spree will continue now because people from all walks of the life have now understood the hollow sloganeering of regional parties for securing their respective political gains by sideling the aspirations of the people. He said that the era of Ghulam Nabi Azad is unforgettable because his achievements in respect of overall development of the State have no past example. He said his vision for prosperity of the common masses has helped congress in achieving popularity in all the three regions of the state. Mr. Vakil said that it was PDP who paved the way for NC to come in power by withdrawing support to Mr. Azad. He said people were fed up of previous regimes and never dreamt of creation of new Districts, Tulip Garden, Haj House, New Assembly Complex etc. but Azad turned to be a dream realizer for common masses. Mr. Vakil said that Omar Abdullah could not utilize five years of his tenure properly rather corruption, nepotism, delay in execution of developmental projects has become a routine now. Mr. Vakil was addressing party workers convention at Nowpora Sopore.

While commenting on the statement of NC Leader Mustafa Kamal Mr. Vakil criticized the nonsense and illogical utterances of Kamal and reminded him about the sacrifices of Congress leaders, legislators and other workers who too were also killed by militants. Mr. Vakil castigated the National Conference leadership for what he said, “Not respecting” coalition dharma. Mr. Vakil lambasted NC and said how come they are in coalition with Congress if they really feel that Congress is responsible for killing of NC workers during militancy. Mr. Vakil said that Congress knows how to maintain and respect coalition Dharma and always desists from such type of utterances otherwise present coalition would have been a history months before. If NC doesn’t want to remain in the coalition and hates Congress, it must quit the Government without any delay rather disrespecting the coalition which doesn’t serve any purpose.” He said that NC cannot befool common and innocent masses anymore as they know that whenever elections are approaching NC raises emotional issues and slogans and after grabbing power NC forgets all such  issues. “NC is dependent on the Congress and without its support they can lose the power and it is because of Congress Omar Abdullah continues to be the Chief Minister of Jammu & Kashmir.Besides others who addressed the gathering include Sr. Congress leaders Ghulam Nabi Shah, Haji Mohammad Afzal Khan, Pandit Brij Nath Nehru.
