Altaf Bukhari orders immediate construction of 2 footbridges

Conducts extensive tour of Amirakadal constituency

Minister for R&B, Gardens, Parks and Floriculture Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari, along with officers of district administration Srinagar, today toured Amirakadal Constituency to assess and address, on-the-spot, the public problems.During his extensive tour, the Minister visited Omarabad, Rawalpora, Rawalpora Chak, Bagwanpora Chak, Walishah Colony, Parra-Bagh, Chinar Chowk, Iqbal Colony and Hakeembagh and received brief from the people about their problems.The people apprised the Minister about the matters like dilapidated roads, scarcity of drinking water, upgradation of electric transformers, faulty drainage system, setting up of ration Ghats and Anganwari centers, erecting of new electric poles and replacement of old conductors. In certain cases the Minister issued on the spot orders while in other cases he assured people that their demands would be addressed in phased manner.Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar, Dr Farooq Ahmad Lone, Executive Engineer, SMC, Ishtiaq Ahmad Shah, Executive Engineer Water Works Srinagar Latief Ahmad besides senior engineers and officers of R&B, ERA, CA&PD, I&FC, PDD and Revenue departments accompanied the Minister.

Responding to the demands of the people of these areas, the Minister announced construction of temporary foot bridges at Rawalpora Chak and Parrabagh and asked authorities of R&B and Irrigation and Flood Control Departments (I&FC) to complete the work within three months. He said this would facilitate the movement of the people, especially student community, living in these areas.  While talking to the people at Omarabd, the Minister instructed engineers of I&FC Department to remove all the silt accumulated on the banks of the irrigation canal passing through the area. He directed the engineers of R&B department to prepare project report for repairs of interior roads of Baghwanpora Chak and cut all the trees hampering the work of road projects. Regarding augmentation of water supply, the Minister was informed that with the commissioningf of Sukhnag water supply scheme, expected to be commissioned this month, the water scarcity of the areas will be addressed once for all. 

Talking to the people at Rawalpora Chak, the Minister assured them that the matter of establishing of Anganwari Center in the area would be taken up with the concerned ministry and also instructed concerned engineers for construction of drains, upgradation of transformers and augmentation of water supply in the area. He also ordered for repairing of roads in Walishah colony besides framing project reports for other works.At Parrabagh, the Minister asked the engineers of I&FC to ensure that silt is removed by the contractor within 10 days or terminate his contract. He also instructed for replacing of existing irrigation pump with a high end pump to cater to the needs of the people there.Syed Altaf while inspecting Bank Colony-Aastan Pora road, directed the engineers of I&FC and R&B to demolish all illegal encroachments that have come up along the bank of the canal besides cutting of all the trees so that work on the project is started early. He asked people to extend full cooperation to the executing agencies in completing the development projects in their respective areas. He asked the officers of revenue department to identify and fence the government land available in the area.On public demand, the Minister also instructed the engineers of R&B department to restore the service roads of bye pass road immediately for convenience of the people.
