Several measures in offing to tone up health institutions: Lal Singh

Minister for Health and Medical Education Ch. Lal Singh inspected Directorate of Health Services Kashmir (DHSK) at Old Secretariat today and took stock of the functioning of various wings of the Department. He also chaired an officers meeting and discussed various issues for streamlining the working of the department and the arrangements being made for Shri Amarnathji Yatra-2015.The Minister went round various sections and interacted with the staff to get first hand appraisal of their functioning. He instructed the Director Health Services Kashmir, Dr Samir Ji Mattoo, to call an explanation from those officials who were not present in the office at the time of inspection. 

He also directed him to submit a detailed report with name, residence and period of stay on the present posting to the Administrative Department within two days.The Minister asked the officers to work with extra zeal and dedication so that the people’s grievances are redressed on priority. He issued strict instructions for ensuring punctuality in the offices and said that serving the people with polite and friendly attitude must be the first priority of the medical fraternity as they are associated with a noble profession.

Lal Singh said the present government has initiated several measures for strengthening the health institutions in the nook and corner of the state. He said there are 2200 health institutions in the State which will be equipped with modern machinery in a phased manner for the benefit of the people.The Minister also inquired from the officers about the arrangements being made for ensuing Shri Amarnathji Yatra-2015 commencing from the first week of July. He directed to make fool-proof arrangements for establishment of Yatra Medical Camps en-route and ensure availability of sufficient quantity of drugs in these Camps. He also directed to keep available Oxygen Cylinders and life saving drugs at high altitude stations like Baltal, Cave, Panjtarni, Pissu Top, Sheshnag for the convenience of the yatries.Lal Singh instructed the Director Health Services, Kashmir, to depute trained staff on the stations and ensure their punctuality during entire yatra period.
