More initiatives in offing to attune Dept to fast-changing media scenario: Muneer-ul-Islam

The Department of Information and Public Relations of J&K Government has opened its official facebook page – JK Information - to keep the people abreast with the activities of the State Government.The Department would be regularly providing updates on various activities including hosting of official advertisements and invitation for press conferences for the information of the public and media. “The initiative has been taken to use social media effectively for the wide dissemination of information related to Government activities,” said Director Information, Mr Muneer-ul-Islam.The Director said that the social media would prove as an effective tool especially in dissemination of the information at the cutting edge level, which mostly doesn’t get much space in the traditional media.“We have many more initiatives in the pipeline to rejuvenate the Information Department and attune its functioning to the fast-changing media scenario,” he said and added that his priority is to first get the professionally qualified manpower for the Department, who will then take on the responsibility of using latest technology for dissemination of information through audio-visual and new media.
