Haq Khan launches UMEED in Dooru Shahabad

7000 self-help groups formed in 17 blocks under the scheme

Minister for Rural Development & Panchayat Raj Abdul Haq Khan today launched UMEED scheme in Dooru Shahabad. The scheme, under J&K State Rural Livelihood Mission, is aimed at providing better livelihood to the women particularly in rural areas.Addressing a public gathering on the occasion, the Minister said that UMEED has brought great hope for the poor women. “The Scheme enables alleviates economic deprivation of the poor women but also raises their status,” the Minister said adding that the Scheme is extensively focused on capacity building and strengthening of infrastructure.The Minister said that with the new government assuming office in the State, significant initiatives have been taken in every sector aimed at providing corruption free and transparent governance. 

He said the Government is committed to bring economic stability to the state.Speaking on the occasion, MLA Dooru Syed Farooq Ahmad Indrabi appreciated launching of the scheme in Bock Dooru Shahabad.The Mission Director (UMEED) J&K State Rural Livelihood Mission, Mr. Arun Manhas said with the launching of the Scheme in Block Dooru Shahabad the total number of the blocks brought under the ambit of UMEED has reached to 17. He said 7000 self help groups have been formed in 17 Blocks of the state and Rs 14 crore credit facility was provided by various Banks during 2014-15 @ Rs 50,000 per group.Director Rural Development Kashmir, Mr.Tasaduq Jeelani, ADC Anantnag Mr. Mohammad Younis Malik, ACD Anantnag Mr. Gulzar Ahmad and SDM Dooru  besides other senior officers were also present on the occasion.
