DDC inaugurates “Farm Machinery Mela cum Awareness camp” at Anantnag

Rs. 10 lakh subsidy” on different equipments released on spot

To modernize the Agriculture sector and production, the department of Agriculture Anantnag district today organised daylong Farm Machinery cum Awareness Camp at Dak Bungalow Anantnag. The camp was inaugurated by District Development Commissioner Anantnag Dr. Farooq Ahmad Lone. Progressing farmers and officers of the department in good number besides the general public participated in the camp.District Development Commissioner stressed upon the concerned to fully participate in the camps and familiarize themselves with the modern day technology and equipments. He urged upon the farmers to take full advantages of the programmes being run by the government for their welfare. He also stressed for utilizing the given subsidy for modernising the agriculture sector so that production is increased up to optimum level.Revealing details on this occasion Chief Agriculture Officer, Anantnag said that on the available agricultural land of 44000 hectares in the district, Rice is cultivated on 24500 hectares, Maize in 14500 hectares and Pulses on 5000 hectares while rest is under the cultivation of other grasses and vegetables. He further revealed that subsidy component of 20 lakh is being provided on different equipments including Pump sets, Tillers, Sprayers, Poly green houses, Vermicompost and power sprayers. CAO also said that the “grass and wheat seeds for coming Rabi seasons will be made available at all departmental stores across the district.
