Zulfkar reviews progress of Mehsana-Bhatinda-Srinagar Gas Pipeline Project

Calls for expediting work to ensure uninterrupted supply of PNG to Kashmir

Minister for CA&PD, Ch. Zulfkar Ali today chaired a joint meeting of divisional administration Jammu and representative of Gujarat State Petronet Limited (GSPL) to discuss various issues regarding the implementation of Mehsana-Bhatinda-Srinagar Gas Pipeline Project.During the meeting threadbare deliberations were held regarding the project which is of vital importance in improving the gas supply infrastructure to reduce the overall pollution besides generating employment avenues for the local unemployed youth.Speaking on the occasion, the Minister called for expediting work on Bhatinda-Srinagar stretch of the gas pipeline as Kashmir Valley remains mostly cutoff from rest of the country during winter season due to heavy snowfall and road blockade.

Ch. Zulfkar asked the officers to constitute survey teams to see the feasibility of the implementation of the project and take appropriate measures to ensure supply of gas to the consumers in J&K on the pattern North-Eastern states.The Minister hoped that the project will ensure hassle-free supply of PNG to people without standing in long queues. He said with the commissioning of this project, PNG can be supplied on cheaper rates and continuously during winter season, even when highway get blocked due to snowfall and landslides.Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, Dr. Pawan Kotwal, Secretary CA&PD, Mr. Sourabh Bhagat, Deputy Commissioners of Jammu, Samba and Kathua districts besides other officers of GSPL were present in the meeting.
