The Technical Education and Industrial Training Minister, Punjab, Mr. Madan Mohan Mittal today reviewed the performance of past 5 years of the International Resource Centre for Universal Human Values of PTU in a meeting here today at I.K. Gujral Punjab Technical University Mohali Campus.During this occasion, the minister said that inspite of the rapid advancements made in education and scientific sphere, human values have seen a sharp decline which is a cause for concern. He said that no society can progress without keeping its social and moral value structure intact.

The Minister further said that PTU is rendering a yeoman’s service to humanity by including human values in its curriculum. He said that there is great need to make concept of human values universally applicable. Disclosing more, he said that Hon’ble Supreme Court has also stressed upon the need to educate children about humanitarian values and professional moral education along with other subjects of study.He said that the subject of humanitarian studies demands serious attention and laying stress on it would bring about positive mentality in all sections of society. 

During his interaction with the journalists, the Minister said that I.K. Gujral Punjab Technical University has taken a truly great initiative by commencing the teaching of humanitarian values, which would go a long way in developing constructive mindset amongst the students.The Minister also said that the skill development infrastructure is being upgraded in the state by opening skill development centres so that the youth of the state could become technically skilled.The meeting was also addressed by Adviser, Youth and Cultural Activity PTU Dr. S.M. Kant, Incharge PTU Mohali Campus Dr. Prabhjot Kaur, Registrar PTU Dr. Amanpreet Singh, Professor R.R. Gaur and Mr. Rajul Asthana.
