Persian,English Influences Enrich Punjabi Language: Harcharan Bains

Freelance journalist and Punjab Chief Minister`s Advisor on National Affairs and Media, Harcharan Bains today called for throwing Punjabi language and literature open to outside influences and allow an appropriate import from as accommodation of words Phrases and other litersry expressions from other languages,Bains also cautioned writers against whst he called " fanatical fundamentalism on linguistic purity,", and added that the Punjabi language truly reflect tge cosmopolitan temper, legacy and culture of the state as janded down to us by the great gurus." 

Mr Bains, known for his articles, coonentaries and columns in English and Punjabi"  appealed to the world renowned poet Surjit Patar to lead the way away from what he called "intellectual ritualism and rigidity"  adding that the vibrancy of a language was lonked directly to the  liberal openness of the native speakers and writers. Speaking on the occasion, Chief Guest Surjit Patar and celebrated author and journalist Gulzar Singh Sandhu advocated a return to the core moorings of the language. Patar however recited his popular poem on this them, Mar rahi hai meri bhasha, which emphasized that threatened by the rush of fireign expressions, Punjabi was too healthy and strong to really have to fear adulteration. 

Speaking on trends in and literature at the 3rd  All India Conferencen on Languages, Linguistics and Folklore atthe Punjab Agricultural University,Ludhiana, Mr Bains said writers in all languages, especially in those of minority segments but rich in cultural fiber and Folklore such ss Punjabi must consciously work towards enrichment pf these languages through a robust and flexible approach towards acceptance of rich and evocative outside influences. This he said was especially true for Persian and Sanskrit, both of which had  played a major hand in the evolution of the Punjabi langusge in it present form. He said that the great gurus,especially Guru Gobind Singh had already shown the path towards this goal.
