Priya Sethi reviews functioning of Education Dept in Rajouri

Minister of State for Education, Information and Culture Priya Sethi chaired a meeting of officers of Education Department at Rajouri today.Member Legislative Assembly, Rajouri Ch. Qamar Hussain, Member Legislative Council Vibodh Gupta, District Development Commissioner Deepti Uppal, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Chief Education Officer, Principals, ZEOs and other officers attended the meeting. Stressing for providing quality education in government schools, Priya exhorted upon the principals and teachers to provide quality education to students to compete with private institutions.

The Minister also said that responsibility of shaping the future of the students and society lies on the shoulders of teachers. She directed the Chief Education Officer to ensure that teachers attend to their duties especially in far flung areas of the district failing which strict action will be taken.

MLA and MLC Rajouri while speaking on the occasion stressed that the issue of mature stay of teachers for Rajouri district should be sorted out at an earliest.The Minister was also apprised about the Gyan Setu workshop being conducted in the schools of Solki, Siot and Lamberi regarding the innovative ways in which science education could be made interesting for school children. The workshop is being conducted by the Deputy Commissioner who herself    headed various sessions of this 3 day workshop and created interest in the children towards overall education. The Minister appreciated this initiative of district administration. 

Earlier Chief Education officer Rajouri gave a brief resume regarding functioning of Education Department of the district besides presenting various issues and problems faced by the department. The principles also presented their issues during the meeting which include construction of various school buildings boundary walls, playgrounds, shortage of teachers, status of toilets in schools and availability of water in schools especially during summer.Giving patient hearing to the problems of the teaching fraternity, the Minister assured for early and speedy disposal of the issues and called upon the fraternity to work with zeal and missionary spirit, adding that the image of education department has to be changed by showing excellent performance.She also called for setting counseling centers in the schools for proper career guidance to students as per their performance and capabilities.
