Div Com reviews functioning of departments

The Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Dr. Asgar Samoon convened the provincial head of departments meeting here today and interacted with all the heads of departments. After interaction with officers Dr. Samoon reviewed the functioning of various departments under various sectors. He stressed upon the functionaries to mitigate the problems of people and ensure for providing of basic amenities to the people.The meeting was attended by Chief Engineers of PDD, EMRE, Kashmir, I&FC and ERA, Director Rural Development Department, Director Animal Husbandry, Vice Chairman LAWDA, Director Floriculture, Director SKIMS Soura and other senior officers.Reviewing the functioning of the Flood Control Department, the Div Com was informed that 250 lakh trees were removed from the banks of River Jehlum till date.

While reviewing the power situation in the valley, the Div Com was informed that the 90% street lights have been installed at Airport road. While in Lal Chowk installation has been completed so far. He was informed that such installation work has already been completed on Boulevard road. The Div Com was also apprised that lights have also been installed at Dargah Hazratbal, Jamia Masjid, Makhdoom Sahib (RA) Shrine and other important places. The Div Com was also informed that on the main roads like as Indira Gandhi Road, Bypass Road and Parimpora Road the installation of street lights work would be completed before the Eid-ul-Fitr. The Divisional Commissioner directed the Municipal authorities for immediate removal of encroachments in the city.  The Div Com also directed the Vice Chairman LAWDA for removal of encroachments in the Dal area. He was informed that 1700 plots have been allotted the Dal dwellers for their rehabilitation. He stressed upon the PWD authorities to remove immediately encroachment at By Pass Pantha Chowk. Reviewing the functioning of health institutions and hospitals functioning in Valley, the Div Com was apprised that thousands of outdoor/indoor patients are being provided better and sufficient medical facilities by the SKIMS, SMHS, Lal Ded, Jawahir Lal Nehru Memorial Hospital, Bone & Joint Hospital and Children Hospital at Sonwar.The Div Com was also informed that all the basic infrastructure in Health Institutions have been strengthening and all district hospitals are also functioning normally.
