Darshan Didar yatra, which is an initiative of the Punjab government and SGPC, left from Gurudwara Sri Chheharta Sahib after its brief halt for next destination at 9:30 am. The yatra was given warm welcome at Guru Nanak Dev University, Khalsa College, Lahori Gate and after halting at Gurudwara Baba Deep Singh Ji Shaheedganj at night, it would further leave on May 24 for Batala in district Gurdaspur via Gheo Mandi, Chowk Hussainpur Majitha Road towards Kathunangal.Last night before the Dharmik Darshan Yatra reached Gurudwara Chheharta Sahib, under the cabinet minister Mr Gulzar Singh Ranike a large number of devotees gave it a warm welcome.
Devotees, religious, political leaders and people from all walks of life welcomed the yatra. Amidst spectacular fireworks and Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh the yatra was given a warm send off. Devotees rained flowers and paid obeisance to the Guru Sahibans’ relics.Giani Balwinder Singh, member SGPC Mrs Kiranjit Kaur, Baba Singh Gumanpura, Bhai Ram Singh, Jathedar Magwinder Singh Khaparkheri and others paid obeisance to the relics. They appreciated the efforts of Punjab government and SGPC in holding this yatra that has enabled people to have darshan of Guru Sahibans’ relics across the state. They said that the event has cemented the bond of young generation and Guru Sahiban giving new dimensions to devotion.They said that braving the intense summer, devotees have been keenly waiting for darshan of the relics showing the devotion they have.The area residents had held langar and cold water chhabeel at different places.Prominent among others present included Mr Manjit Singh secretary, Dibagh Singh Wadali, Om Prakash Gabbar, Savinder Singh Kot Khalsa, Jagtar Singh manager, Satnam Singh, Bhupinder Singh, Nihang organizations, other learned people and large number of devotees.
