Disaster management plan discussed at Ramban

To discuss District Disaster Management Plan (DDMP) a high level meeting of all the district and sectoral officers of the district Ramban was today held at Ramban under the chairmanship of District Development Commissioner, Ramban, Farooq Shah Bukhari. During the threadbare discussion held on DDMP for district Ramban all the line departments were informed about their role and duties under District Disaster Management Plan being formulated by the district administration in collaboration with All India Disaster Mitigation Institute Ahmadabad. It is pertinent to mention here that Government of India has chosen two districts of the state for disaster management i.e Kupwara and Ramban in its initial phase.

The experts of AIDMI presented a detailed view of how to prepare the effective plans for managing accidents, floods, earthquakes, fire and other disaster like situations by getting information from people at the grass root level. The Institute shall work with the line departments of the district for selecting the areas which are prone to disaster like situations and prepare detailed plan so that loss of life and property can be minimized.DDC constituted various teams for different purposes to execute and regulate DDMP in the district to meet any emergency or disaster like situation. DDC further told that the district is vulnerable to road accidents and cloud bursts and the officers should focus both upon prevention and relief. He directed all the concerned officers of the district to work in close co-ordination with the Institute experts so that a comprehensive district disaster management plan can be prepared.Among others the meeting was attended by SSP Ramban, Randeep Kumar, DPO- ICDS Ashok Pandita,  ACR, Ramban.  CPO,   , Nodal Officer DDMP (DSWO Ramban), SDMs, ACD, Engineers,  Army and paramilitary force  officers besides representatives of different construction Companies.
