Naeem Akhtar announces Rs 5 lakh CDF for M P School Srinagar

Releases Rs 50,000 for purchase of photography equipment ,Conducts extensive tour of the institution

Minister for Education Naeem Akhtar today announced Rs 5 lakh for M P School Srinagar from his Constituency Development Fund (CDF), for development of football ground and upgrading related facilities at the school. Stressing the need to rejuvenate the educational scenario in Government Schools, the Minister said that extracurricular activities are as important as academics for over all personality development of the students.This was stated by the Minister during his visit to M. P. School here at Bagh-e-Dilawar Khan, Srinagar.  The Minister, while recalling the historic importance of the area – Sheher-e-Khas where the institution is located said that, it is the real identity of Kashmir valley and M. P. School is an institution of special importance requiring special attention of the Government.The Minister during his visit interacted with the staff and the students, and took stock of entire gamut of infrastructure, availability of teaching faculty, and other related facilities available at the school including canteen, library, sports facilities, toilets etc.

The Minister asked for promotion of extra-curricular activities in the school and announced constitution of a Mountaineering Club for the institution, which would promote culture of exploration and observatory learning among the students. In this regard, Mahmood Ahmad Shah, President, J&K Hiking and Mountaineering Club gave a detailed presentation on the same and it was decided that the Physical Education Master of the School shall register the students for a trek trip to be organized over the week-end.The Minister also gave directions for organizing a four-day field trip to Wadwan, Kishtwar for the school students, for which they shall be provided tents and sleeping bags by the JK Police and bus facility by the department. The Minister also instructed to have various outdoor competitions like Photography, painting, etc. during the trip for which he announced release of Rs 50,000 for purchase of cameras for the school.The Minister informed the students that there shall be after school classes introduced from this session for all those students who do not have any academic guidance at home. The faculty members of repute in each subject shall be taking extra classes for all those students who are willing to attend the same after school time.While going through the books available in the library of the school the Minister, emphasized on strengthening the Library and also inculcating habit of reading books in the students as well as faculty.The Minister also paid a brief visit to Gandhi Memorial College.
