Punjab Unaided Technical Institutions Association (PUTIA) has strongly objected to the decision made by the Punjab Government on formation of Board of Governors of PTU, Jalandhar. A meeting under the leadership of President, PUTIA, Dr. J.S Dhaliwal was held recently strongly objecting that PUTIA was not given representation in governing bodies of PTU.Senior Vice President, PUTIA and Executive Vice Chairman, Doaba Group, Sh. Manjit Singh said that a delegation of PUTIA will meet Punjab Government on this issue. The delegation will further request Government to appoint representatives from PUTIA in Board of Governors for decision making.Vice President, PUTIA and Chairman, Aryans Group while raising the issue said that there are more than 400 Unaided Technical Colleges in Punjab. The problems of Students, Staff and Management are not getting resolved due to non representation of PUTIA as the governing bodies.

Kataria further added that despite of the fact that 95% of the education is in hands of private players; they still do not have any say in PTU. He further said that Private institutions in Punjab are facing hardships which could not be highlighted due to non representation in PTU.Dhaliwal further said that last year also in technical education summit PUTIA has strongly demanded from the Chief Minister,Punjab for the formation of Board of Governors. But Government has not considered the request of PUTIA while making the autonomy in Board of Governors.Dhaliwal further added that because of the policy of Government, Technical Education of Punjab is passing through tough face. On the one hand the problems of the Institutions are not being solved on the other hand because of nonpayment of Post Matric Scholarship, many Institutions are facing financial hardships.
