Rains lash Kashmir, more rainfall likely

Most parts of Jammu and Kashmir received moderate rain on Monday as the weather office forecast more rains in the state."We are expecting light to moderate rain with thundershowers at most places in the state during the next 24 hours," a meteorological department official told IANS here.The Valley's border district of Kupwara received the highest rainfall of 29.7 mm during the last 12 hours to Monday morning."Sky will mostly remain cloudy tomorrow as well. The maximum temperature is likely to hover around 21 degrees Celsius in Srinagar," the official said, adding there will be decrease in precipitation from Tuesday onwards.

Srinagar received 16.7 mm of rainfall till 9.30 a.m. on Monday while the minimum temperature was 13 degrees.Pahalgam and Gulmarg tourist resorts recorded minimum temperatures of 8 degrees and 4.5 degrees Celsius respectively.Leh town of the Ladakh region recorded the minimum temperature of 9.3 degrees and Kargil town of the same region recorded 4.5 degrees Celsius.Minimum temperatures in Jammu region's Banihal town was 12.7 degrees, Bhaderwah town 12.1 degrees and in Katra town 20.5 degrees.The minimum temperature in Jammu city was 22.8 degrees Celsius.
