Abdul Rehman Veeri inaugurates AYUSH health camp at Pushkiri
Says Government keen to promote ISM, Substantial change would be visible on ground soon

Minister for Horticulture, Hajj and Auqaf, Abdul Rehman Veeri today inaugurated AYUSH health cum awareness camp at village Pushkiri in Bijbehara.The health camp was organized by the Indian System of Medicines (ISM) Department and during the day long camp specialist doctors of ISM provided free health checkup and medicines to the people in the area.Addressing a public gathering after inaugurating the health camp, the Minister said the government is keen to promote the traditional medicines in the State. He asked the ISM department to encourage people to avail treatment through this system. He said Government has set up ISM health centers at all hospitals in the State and at the district level, besides Primary Health Centers, where free medicines and other related facilities have been made available to patients.
The Minister underscored the need for organizing more such camps in remote and hilly areas for ensuring maximum benefits to the people through such healthcare facility. He called upon the people to take best advantage of AYUSH system of treatment and to get a health check up done by the doctors under Indian System of Medicine.The Minister said providing affordable treatment is a necessity today and AYUSH is the most plausible solution at hand. He appreciated efforts of the organizers to make people aware of alternative medicine system and its various therapies. He said, providing an opportunity to the practitioners to interact with the public and showcase their achievements is commendable.
Stressing the need for adoption of alternate medicine, Veeri said the adoption of traditional systems and medicines for preventive and curative health care has become more relevant today than before.The Minister said that the Government is taking various short, medium and long term measures to provide accountable, transparent and corruption-free administration at all levels. “J&K has voted for change, and we assure our people that the change they are aspiring for will be soon visible on the ground”, he said.
Veeri said the Government would ensure that the governance agenda worked out by it is implemented on the ground in letter and spirit and people get the much-needed relief on all fronts. He sought people’s cooperation in translating Government’s commitment to provide responsive and responsible governance into reality. “We would welcome regular public feedback on the policies and programmes of the Government so that course-corrections, if any, are made accordingly,” he said.Responding to demands of the locals, the Minister assured that all their genuine needs would be fulfilled in due course of time.
