State to urge NGT for reconsidering its decision :Virbhadra Singh

Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh while addressing public meeting at Jagatsukh in Manali said that the State Government would urge National Green Tribunal (NGT) for reconsidering the ban imposed on vehicles plying on Rohtang Pass.
“It is in my knowledge that many transporters, Dhaba owners and vendors are facing problem due to the decision of NGT and the government will strongly take up the matter to reconsider this decision for the sake of livelihood of thousands of people”, said the Chief Minister adding that we need to protect the rights of the people as well to protect the serene environment of the region.The Chief Minister said that, we also need to find an alternative and amicable solution to protect the interests of both the people of the region and the environment as well. “We are making efforts for double-laning the left bank from Kullu to Manali and to make it as a National Highway so that double lane can be developed on both sides of River Beas”, he said. The State has sent a proposal to the world bank regarding double-laning of left bank and also got sanctioned a sum of Rs 5.50 crore.
He said the government had imposed complete ban on transfers and now onwards transfers of teachers on request would not be entertained. Teachers should concentrate on teaching the students and not waste time involving themselves in transfers and work hard for securing best results for their schools. The Chief Minister directed the education department for preparing feasibility report regarding starting of commerce classes in GSSS, Jagatsukh. A rationalisation committee had been formed to find out the strength of the students and teachers in all the schools of the State, he said.He directed the PWD department to prepare a plan for school ground at Jagatsukh and also estimate for boundary wall and fencing of the school ground. He said that the matter regarding school building was delayed due to forest clearance and the government had pursued the matter with ministry of forests for early clearance so that a magnificent school building could be constructed along-with enough space for sports activities.
He said that during the BJP regime, the Congress MLAs were never invited to the official functions but the Congress believed in development and was regularly inviting the opposition MLAs to keep their demands and views. He assured that the government would certainly consider their genuine demands.The Chief Minister earlier performed foundation stone laying ceremony of new Government Senior Secondary building at Jagatsukh to be completed with an out-lay of Rs 2.58 crore, and Water Supply Scheme Sharan-Kalonti-Mahili & Jana in Archindi gram Panchayat to cost Rs. 2.89 crore. The scheme would benefit population of around 5.50 thousand of Archindi, Pataage, Darudhar, Sharni, Dhama, Barnot, Bated Panchayats etc.
Local MLA Shri Govind Thakur, Chairman Zila Parishad, Kullu, Shri Hari Chand Sharma and BCC President Shri Bhuneshwar Gaud and spoke on the occasion, besides placing the demands of the area.Pradhan, Gram Panchayat Jagatshukh, Shri Jog Raj Rana honoured the Chief Minister.The contract teachers association thanked the Chief Minister for announcing regularisation of contract teachers after completing five years of contract period in the budget.MLA, Banjar, Shri Karan Singh, Chairman, Wool Federation, Shri Raghuvir Thakur, DCC President, Shri Bhudi Singh Thakur, Deputy Commissioner, Kullu Shri Rakesh Kanwar, OSD to Chief Minister, Shri Amit Pal Singh, Director Higher Education, Shri Dinkar Burathoki were also present on the occasion amongst panchayat representatives, Members of Yuvak and Mahila Mandals.
