Operation Maitri by Army Continues after Fresh Earthquake in Nepal today

The Indian Army continues to provide aid to affected population and areas in close coordination and cooperation with the Nepal Army.The ALHs continue to be employed for rescue efforts in Pokhara and adjoining areas in spite of weather and terrain limitations and have conducted 30 sorties, evacuated 2 persons, moved 11 others apart from delivering 25.6 tons of relief material since 09 May. Army and IAF Helicopters combined have moved over 56.69 tons of relief stores in the last three days alone. 

The Indian Army Field Hospitals and the medical teams treated 226 patients including 14 surgeries, since 09 May. One Field hospital de-inducted yesterday and another Field Hospital at Lagenkhel along with the medical team at Barpak is in the process of being de-inducted. The Field hospital at Senamangal along with the Triage centre at Tribhuvan Airport and Medical team at Gorkha continues to render medical assistance to the affected population. After today afternoons earthquake the Field Hospital treated seven Nepal Police personnel with minor injuries apart from activating two medical teams with ambulance for receiving casualties at Kathmandu Airport. The Medical teams are coordinating with the Nepal Army medical authorities and are on standby. 

The ETFs are involved in clearance of collapsed buildings and have cleared over 917 meter of track while clearing 705 cubic meter of debris apart from debris of 40-50 damaged houses in Bakhtapur & Basantpur since 09 May. The Engineers have helped in conducting controlled demolitions of five highly damaged houses at Barpak apart from constructing four roof top shelters.An earthquake had struck today afternoon while the engineer teams were removing debris between multi storey buildings at Kathmandu and resumed work shortly thereafter. The engineer team at Barpak reported of two houses collapsing. The ETFs are assessing the damage due to today’s earthquake.The Everest Team which was located at Namchi Bazaar when the earthquake struck today is safe and moving towards Syangboche Airfield.
