Multi-crore cricket scam:Court issues notice to Farooq Abdullah

A High Court Division Bench Monday issued a notice to National Conference patron and president Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA), Farooq Abdullah in the multi-crore cricket scam case. The notice was served to Farooq Abdullah after the Division Bench heard the Public Interest Litigation, seeking investigation by a high level team of reputed police officers into the alleged misappropriation of crores of rupees in the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA).While issuing the notice, the court asked Abdullah to respond to allegations made in the writ petition. The court directed the investigating agencies to file a proper status report by or before next date of hearing of the case, fixed for the next week.Earlier, court had issued notices to state government through Chief Secretary and Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on a Public Interest Litigation, seeking high-level probe into alleged multi-crore scam in J&K Cricket Association. The scam involves alleged misappropriation of funds to the tune of Rs 40 crore. (CNS)
