ReT teachers Friday started 36 hour hunger strike in Press Colony Srinagar. The protesting teachers have been demanding the release of pending salary under Sarva Shiksha Abhiyaan (SSA) from past 8 months and regularization of KGBV teachers. MLA Langate Engineer Rashid visited these protesting teachers and castigated the government for not resolving their issues. “There is no difference between the present and previous government. Omar Abdullah who is criticizing the present government also did nothing when he was at the helm of affairs. They are all sailing in the same boat,” Rashid said during an address to the protesting teachers. He said that PDP president Mehbooba Mufti was boosting that that there will be no dearth of funds after forging alliance with BJP. “I ask her where the funds are and where is she now. The government can’t ignore the people and turn a blind eye to their sufferings,” he said. (CNS)
