BJP slams NC:Your party was the first in J&K which joined hands us: BJP to Omar

Ruling Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) Wednesday reminded former Chief Minister and National Conference (NC) working president Omar Abdullah of his alliance with the saffron party and accused it of doing nothing for the people of the State since 1947.“It seems NC has forgotten that it was the first party in Jammu and Kashmir which joined hands with BJP and Omar Abdullah became the junior minister in the cabinet of Atal Bihari Vajpayee,” the BJP spokesperson Khalid Jehangir said in a statement issued to GNS.He said: “History stands testimony to the fact that National Conference couldn’t do much for the people of JK since 1947 and it remained busy in its own errands. Promise and claims of the NC leaders remained confined to papers only.”

“Despite NC being the oldest party of Jammu and Kashmir, the people of the State have rejected it outrightly,” he claimed, adding: “NC facing a humiliating defeat first in the parliamentary polls and then in assembly elections has proved that people are no more interested either in NC or its leadership.Jehangir said that NC is “afraid” of PDP-BJP alliance as the “people friendly initiatives” of the present regime have “frustrated” the NC leaders.“NC looted the state for all these years and failed to take any people friendly initiatives. The aim of NC leaders was just to fill in their own coffers and build mansions for themselves,” he alleged. 

The BJP spokesman said that NC unleashing a “vicious propaganda” against the party and its leadership is not going to help its cause.“Prime Minister Narendra Modi has led from the front and has emerged as the most popular leader of contemporary India. Our party is committed to provide good governance entire India, including Jammu and Kashmir,” he said, and added that “NC is all set to become the history and its leaders should forget about politics and do something else”.
