A delegation of the Delhi Transporters Association on Wednesday met Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and suggested ways to reduce air pollution in the national capital.Kejriwal later directed the transport department to examine the proposals given by the Delhi Transporters Association. He also asked the department to submit a preliminary report by next week.

In the meeting with Kejriwal and Transport Minister Gopal Rai, the association said it was willing to contribute towards making Delhi free of congestion and traffic jams as well as reduce air pollution levels.

The association proposed to set-up integrated freight complexes in the outer parts of the city to reduce air pollution."One of the options can be to move out all whole sale trade and warehouses in the city to the outer periphery to reduce vehicular traffic from entering the city," the association suggested.Noting that diesel was the prime source of air pollution in Delhi, the National Green Tribunal had on April 7 ordered that all diesel vehicles, which were more than 10 years old, will not be permitted to ply in Delhi and the National Capital Region. The central government on Monday urged the NGT to stay its order as it would affect the livelihood of many people.
