Ready to play role for uniting separatist camp: Shabir Shah

Separatist leader Shabir Shah Thursday said he is open for the grand alliance between the separatist leaders but unity of principles will be proffered over the unity of heads.Talking to KNS, Shah said that the strived for the unity in the pro-freedom camp even in the year 2008 and once held more than six hours long meeting with Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Syed Ali Geelani over the issue. “After that I was arrested and one of the charge slapped against me was that I tried to unite the fragmented Huriyat once again,” Shah recalled.

He added that even at present, he is ready to play his role in unity the resistance camp in Kashmir “but the unity must be of principles and hearts and not merely of the heads.”“We have seen the unity of heads in the past- it served no purpose. The mistakes of the past must not be repeated,” Shah told KNS.He maintained that at present he is striving to have a united face of the resistance leadership of Kashmir and that stands must be clear before any move could be made public. “We need to clear our stand on elections, over the Huriyat constitution of 1993, over talks and other contentious issues.”
