Rs 4 crore announced for Girls Hostel

Development and advancement of Hr. education system in State among priorities of Govt.: Akbar Lone

The development and advancement in higher education system in the State is the prime concern of present coalition Government and every possible step is being taken for providing quality and innovative education at every junction of the State so that students are enriched with international level standard of education and are able to prove their Competence at national and global levels, besides inculcate sense of responsibility and leadership qualities among them.This was stated by the Minister for Higher Education, Mr. Mohammad Akbar Lone during his visit to Government Boys Degree College (GBDC) and Government Women Degree College (GWDC) Sopore on Saturday.

During visit of (GBDC) Sopore, the Minister inaugurated Information Technology Lab developed on modern lines, Library Automation System and Canteen of the College, besides visited other blocks of the College and took stock of various developmental works being executed for the upgradation of the College infrastructure.The Minister announced Rs 4 crore for the construction of girls hostel, assuring additional funds for other developmental works of the College.

Mr. Lone urged upon the college heads and faculty members to utilise their experience and skills for chiselling the potential and capability of the students in  right perspective so that they could exhibit their talent in all spheres of life and lead the State to the horizons of success and prosperity.The Minister underscored the importance of extra-curricular activities and modern electronics revolution, saying that such things are necessary to achieve success in every field of life.  He also enjoined for maintaining discipline and regular attendance of students and staff in the Colleges.Mr. Lone also released annual College Magazine “Wullar” and News Bulletin “Sopur” of GBDC.The students presented various mesmerising and colourful cultural programmes on the occasion which were highly applauded by the audience.Later, Mr. Lone visited GWDC, Sopore and took stock of its functioning. He went round the Science block and inspected various science laboratories of the College. He also visited Science exhibition where students of the college have displayed science models and interacted with the students and the faculty members.The Minister announces Rs 4 lakh for the upgradation of college Computer lab which has been developed on modern trends.The Minister also released annual college magazine “MEHAK” of GWDC.The Minister was accompanied by Legislator Mr. M.A Ganai, former Minister, Mr Abdul Gani Vakil, Director, Colleges, Prof, T.A. Kawoos, Nodal Principal, Prof. M.Y.Peerzada Principal GBDC, Dr. Mushataq Ahmad Lone,, Principal GWDC, Dr Manzoor Ahmad Lone and Principals from various colleges of north Kashmir district.
