Suspected militants Monday pulled out three cops from a private Sumo Vehicle and shot them dead in Amchipora area of South Kashmir’s Shopian district.The heavily armed militants stopped the Sumo (6432) at a secluded place near Amchipora and asked the three cops and the driver to get out of the vehicle. The gunmen according to sources shot dead three cops after checking their identity cards and papers. The driver of the private sumo vehicle was allowed to go unharmed.Sources told CNS that all the three cops were unarmed and were on way to Amchipora in connection with the land dispute case. A police official said that the three cops present in Sumo were not carrying any weapon and died on spot. “The militants escaped from the scene after killing the three cops posted at Police Station Shopian. All efforts are on to trace and nab the assailants,” SP Shopian Muhammad Altaf said.

The slain cops have been identified as Head Constable Mushtaq Ahmed, a resident of Arigam, Constable Shabir Ahmed of Leh Ladakh and Constable Nisar Ahmed of Apple town Sopore.Soon after the incident, police, SOG and Army personnel from 44 Rashtriya Rifles arrived on the spot and launched a hunt to trace the militants.In another incident in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district, counter insurgent cop presently posted in IRP 3rd Battalion Ghulam Mustafa was attacked by suspected militants on Monday morning inside a passenger bus.Police sources told CNS that Sub-Inspector Ghulam Mustafa was travelling in a passenger bus (JK03-7837) on way to Baramulla from Srinagar when the suspected militants present in the bus fired upon him. “The cop pretended to be dead inside the bus. The militants who were wearing track suits hijacked the bus after firing upon the cop. The incident occurred at Mirgund and militants alighted from the bus near Chhur village some 17 kilometers away from the spot of incident and during this time the militants

directed all the passengers to switch off their mobiles and maintain silence. The suspected militants also directed the driver of the bus to keep on moving towards his destination and refrain from stopping anywhere,” a police official said.    Another police officer said that cop who pretended to be dead inside the bus woke up soon after the militants alighted from the bus. “He was immediately rushed to nearby hospital,” he said.    SDPO Pattan Mir Iqbal said that a case vide FIR number 52/2015 under section 307 RPC and 7/25 Arms Act has been registered and the inquiry is going on. Meanwhile, unidentified gunmen fired upon a vegetable seller near J&K Bank at Aabgah Tral in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district. Rafiq Ahmed Bhat alias Rafiq Dada son of Ghulam Mohiuddin a resident of Tral according to police was a former militant and presently a vegetable seller was injured after militant fired upon him.

Reports said that Rafiq has been hospitalized and is out of danger. A police official said that Rafiq was involved in several militancy related incidents and recently he was booked in an extortion case.    “Rafiq was held responsible for snatching a rifle from a CRPF personnel of 185 Battalion at Gonkuch Tral while an FIR vide number 5/2015 under section 392 RPC and 7/25 arms act was registered against him for extorting the Sarpanch of Panzu village,” he said adding that from past 10 years he had been jailed multiple times.
