Sensex trades flat; healthcare stocks rise

A benchmark index of Indian equities markets, the 30-scrip Sensitive Index (Sensex), was trading flat in the morning trade session on Monday. It was trading marginally down by 12 points or 0.04 percent.The wider 50-scrip Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) was also flat during the morning trade session. It was trading 0.15 points up at 8,586.40 points.The Sensex of the S&P Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), which opened at 28,351.94 points, was trading at 28,247.79 points (10.00 a.m.) in the morning trade session, down 12.35 points or 0.04 percent from the previous day's close at 28,260.14 points.The Sensex touched a high of 28,367.58 points and a low of 28,235.58 points in the intra-day trade so far.

Healthy buying was observed in healthcare, automobile and consumer durables sectors.The S&P BSE healthcare index gained 334.22 points, automobile index increased by 191.50 points and consumer durables index was up 105.85 points.However, bank index plunged by 122.79 points, information technology (IT) index was down 36.65 points, followed by media index which was lower by 35.03 points.
