BJP national president Amit Shah to visit Punjab soon: Kamal Sharma

National President of the Bhartiya Janata Party  Amit Shah will soon be visiting Punjab. Sh. Shah gave this information to the Punjab BJP President Sh. Kamal Sharma when he met him during the party's national executive meet at Bengluru. During the interaction between the two leaders, they held discussions on the state of political activities on at the national and state level and both the leaders shared their views on various issues.BJP’s national secy. Sh.Tarun Chugh was also present during the discussion.Giving further details in a statement issued here today, Sh. Sharma said that Sh. Amit Shah has taken information about the Punjab politics, functioning of the state government and the feedback of people of Punjab over the performance of the ten months of the union government. BJP national president also congratulated Sh. Sharma and BJP team for the party's victory in the recently held local bodies elections and expressed his gratitude towards the people of the Punjab for their overwhelming support to the BJP.    

Sh. Amit Shah further said that the membership drive in Punjab has also received tremendous response and party has been able to enroll five times more members than past such drives. He disclosed that the drive has got encouraging response from the rural and Sikh dominated areas. He informed that there are about 50 per cent Sikh in the list of the new members enrolled during the membership drive. It is worth mentioning that earlier there were 3.50 lakh members of BJP in Punjab but now the figure has crossed 18.50 lakhs under the ongoing membership drive.  Meanwhile, BJP state president Sh. Kamal Sharma met the Union Agriculture Minister Sh. Radhamohan Singh and took up the matter of the crop damage in the state due to untimely rains. He told the Minister that Punjab contributes maximum to the nations food bowl but due to rains in the months of the February and March, wheat and potato produce has been damaged. He requested the Minister that the affected farmers be compensated and Sh. Radhamohan has assured to sympathetically consider the demand.
