Stampede kills 10 in Bangladesh

At least 10 people, including seven women, died in a stampede at a Hindu religious gathering in Bangladesh, a media report said on Friday.The accident occurred during "Ashtami snan", the Hindu holy bath in the Old Brahmaputra river, at Langalbandh, bdnews24.com reported.All the victims were over 50 years of age, said a police officer, adding that the authorities had asked devotees to stay away from the site of the accident.Langalbandh, a Hindu holy site, is situated on the banks of the Old Brahmaputra river near the Dhaka-Chittagong highway, about 20km southeast of Dhaka.It hosts a religious gathering in which thousands of Hindu devotees from Bangladesh, India and Nepal take part in a holy bath.
