Pakhowal Road Rob To Be Dedicated To Public Shortly

This Rail Over Bridge (Rob) Is Part Of Sidhwan Canal Expressway Project

Providing a much needed respite to the city residents, the Pakhowal Road ROB (Rail Over Bridge) would be thrown open for public shortly. This 1.6 kilometer long bridge is part of the much awaited Sidhwan Canal Expressway project.Government officials supervising this project informed that the Pakhowal Road ROB is near completion and it would be thrown open for public shortly. They informed that they are still in the process of giving final touches.The Rs 328.16 crore Sidhwan Canal expressway project starts from Ferozepur Road and goes till Doraha along the Sidhwan Canal. This project is a part of the 26.9 kilometer long Sidhwan Canal expressway project with carriageway on each side from the medium of Doraha to Ludhiana-Ferozepur Road, providing a bypass for traffic going towards Ferozepur.

This newly constructed ROB will start from the Ludhiana-Ferozepur Road and land near Sidhwan Canal at Jawaddi. It would also lessen the traffic burden on other nearby railway  crossings as well.An official of the PWD informed that the main structure has been completed and they are giving final touches to the ROB before it is dedicated for the commuters.Irrigation Minister Mr. Sharnjit Singh Dhillon informed that once this project is complete, it would reduce the travelling time for commuters coming from Ferozepur side and heading towards Chandigarh, Delhi and Patiala via Doraha as they will not have to pass through the city. He said that the entire Sidhwan Canal expressway project would also be dedicated to the public shortly.
