Governor visits Sanatan Dharam Sabha School

announces support for its rejuvenation and smooth functioning

N. N. Vohra, Governor, visited Shri Sanatan Dharam Sabha Higher Secondary School at Rehari here today and was briefed by its management about the urgent need for undertaking repairs and renovation work of the existing building and other requirements of this institution. The Governor went around the various classrooms and interacted with the management, teachers and students of this school. He also discussed the technical appraisal which had been undertaken for effecting renovations to the existing structures which are in an extremely dilapidated condition. He also viewed the list of additional facilities required to be created for facilitating the education of children on a satisfactory basis.Referring to the requirements of the school mentioned in the Memorandum presented by Mr. Jagdish Dogra, President, Shri Sanatan Dharam Sabha, Jammu, the Governor, who is Chairman of the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, announced that the Engineering Wing of the Shrine Board would undertake the more urgently required repairs and renovations of the school building, which are estimated to cost over Rs. 16 lakh. He asked Mr. Navin K. Choudhary, his Principal Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, who was present on this occasion, to have an early meeting with the Shri Sanatan Dharam Sabha Higher Secondary School management to assess the viability of formulating a well considered project for rejuvenating this institution and restoring to its earlier glory which was lost when the State Government decided to withdraw all grant assistance to this institution.  

Earlier, Mr. Jagdish Dogra, President, Shri Sanatan Dharam Sabha, Jammu, in a Memorandum, gave details of the aims and objects of establishment of this school and the financial constraints being faced in effecting repairs to the building adversely affecting its smooth functioning. He expressed his gratitude to the Governor for visiting the school and for taking keen interest in the promotion of education and the welfare of the people of the State.Functionaries and members of the Shri Sanatan Dharam Sabha, management committee of the school, Principal, teachers and students and prominent citizens were present on this occasion.
