Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) General Secretary and spokesman Prof. Prem Singh Chandumajra today warned the Congress party to desist from attempting to brow beat Sikhs on the eve of assembly elections in Delhi by discontinuing free electricity supply to the flats of victims of the 1984 Sikh massacre in the Tilak Vihar area.In a statement here, Prof. Chandumajra said the Congress government in Delhi had earlier given sub standard flats along with free power to the victims of the 1984 Sikh massacre. He said instead of renovating the flats the government was now in the process of withdrawing the free power facility extended to the victims. Prof. Chandumajra said the victims of the 1984 massacre were now also facing other problems including being deprived of adequate water supply.Asserting that these actions were prove of the real face of the Congress which had always discriminated against the Sikh community, he said it seemed the Sheila Dixit led Delhi government was trying to brow beat the Sikhs of Tilak Vihar into voting for the Congress in the forthcoming assembly elections. The SAD leader said the Sikhs of Delhi knew about the real face of the Congress and had recently even voted out the Congress supported faction of Paramjit Singh Sarna in the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) elections. “Now the Sikhs of Delhi are waiting to teach the Congress a befitting lesson in the forthcoming assembly elections and wholeheartedly support the SAD-BJP in the polls”.Prof. Chandumajra reiterated the resolve of the party to continue its sustained struggle on every available democratic and judicial forum to safeguard the interests of ’84 Sikh victims. He said the party would do its utmost to ensure those responsible for the 1984 anti Sikh massacre including Sajjan Kumar and Jagdish Tytler were put behind bars. He promised that on coming to power in Delhi and at the centre, the NDA would have review all the injustices done to the 1984 Sikh victims.
