Rural areas looking for high quality healthcare: Dr Shehnaz

On the eve of 66th Republic day celebration, Member Legislative Council, Dr Shehnaz Ganai today donated force traveller Ambulance, purchased through Constituency Development fund, to Primary Health Centre Sawjian as the same was the dire need of the area.The ambulance was handed over to Medical Officer at PHC Sawjian, in presence of the CMO Poonch, BMO Mandi, Block President N.C Mr Abdul Ahad Bhat, various workers of National conference and a large number of people of the area who had gathered at the venue. While speaking on the occasion Dr Ganai assured the people, of all the support in further expansion and upgradation of health infrastructure in the far flung area. She said that healthcare is the right of every individual but lack of quality infrastructure, dearth of qualified medical functionaries, and non- access to basic medicines and medical facilities thwarts its reach to the rural population.

She said that Majority of people live in rural areas where the condition of medical facilities is deplorable. Considering the picture of grim facts there is a dire need of new practices and procedures to ensure that quality and timely healthcare reaches the deprived corners of our villages.Majority of people die due to preventable and curable diseases like diarrhea, measles and typhoid as and the rural people have to travel miles to seek healthcare assistance. She said that with the facility of Ambulance the patients can be timely shifted to other hospitals for better medical facilities.She asked the Doctors posted in the hospital to serve the people of the area living in the remote and the hill locked villages, as a mission/ with dedication so that proper health facilities can be provided to the public.She assured the people that the issue of shortage of ration and kerosene oil will be taken up with the concerned authorities on priority basis.
