Sukhbir Singh Badal, Deputy Chief Minister Punjab today called for initiating ‘Revolutionary Reforms’ in the Punjab Industry Department, to streamline the sanction of projects, to adopt the projects by the state government till its fructification besides to bring systematic attitudinal changes in bureaucracy creating hurdles for the entrepreneurs. Accompanied by Industry and Commerce Minister Anil Joshi, N.K. Sharma, Chief Parliamentary Secretary, Industries, Badal had a three hour long meeting with over two dozens industrial magnets, who have evinced great interest to set-up Textile Units in the state, under Textile Park policy announced by the Punjab Government. More than 24 industrial houses showed their keen interest to put a combined investment of Rs. 50,000 in setting up their textile units in the proposed textile park and sought the intervention of Deputy Chief Minister to simplify the sanctioning process and make the system investor friendly. They said that Textile Industry being the labour intensive industry had a potential to generate over one lakh direct and over 5 lakh indirect job avenues within next three years besides giving a remunerative price to the cotton farmers of Malwa belt. Assuring world class infrastructure, quality power supply availability of canal water, the Deputy Chief Minister said that it was his personal commitment to make Malwa region a Textile Hub, which would export quality denim clothes to all multi-national companies in the world. He said that textile park was his personal dream project and he would ensure that no entrepreneur have to face any problem in setting up their units in industrial parks. Reacting to the problems posed by some industrial houses, Badal constituted a high-level committee under Chief Secretary Rakesh Singh that would study the process of sanctioning of mega projects in details besides going into the problems faced by the investors and come out with an Onilne, Transparent, Investor Friendly, Fast Track Project Sanction Process by June 15th positively. Badal also asked the Industry Department to explore the process of setting-up new ‘Industry Cluster’ near Lalru by providing proper infrastructure for industrial growth on the pattern of Manesar and Gurgaon in Haryana.
