Kashmir valley witnessed relief from harsh chilly cold as the region received fresh snowfall in upper reaches and moderate rainfall in plains including summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir.Reports reaching to 5 Dariya News Srinagar Bureau suggests that around one ft snow recorded in world famous ski spot Gulmarg. Fresh snowfall in Gulmarg gives boost to tourism in valley as most of the tourists were seen enjoying seasons heavy snowfall.Sources within the Department of Tourism in Kashmir said that no vehicle without chains would be allowed to move towards the ski resort from Gulmarg due to worst slip in road connectivity.Higher reaches in Kashmir valley witnessed seasons first snowfall since past night these places includes health resort Pehalgam, Shopian, Peer Ki Gali, Mughal road, and frontier zone Kupwara. Road leading to machil and other adjoin areas in North Kashmir’s Kupwara district has been closed by authorities due to heavy snowfall.Meanwhile, Jammu Srinagar National Highway has been closed by authorities for traffic due heavy snowfall at Patnitop and Jawahar Tunel. Official sources told that highway has been closed for all kinds of traffic movements.Pertinently, Srinagar received fresh snowfall since yesterday night which gives respite to people from hash weather. However MeT Department predicts more rains and snow in next 24 hours.
