Punjab to set up sports stadiums at Block level-Sukhbir Singh Badal

Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Sukhbir Singh Badal today announced that Punjab Government would construct sports stadiums at Block level with Rs. 1.5 crore each in next one year to ensure maximum participation from Punjab in Indian contingent at the Rio Olympic in 2016. He also announced that Union Minister Nitin Gadkari will lay down foundation stone for 4 laning of Bathinda-Chandigarh highway costing Rs. 3300  crore on January 22. 

He said that in next 2 years 12 major roads including Shambhu-Jalandhar, Jalandhar-Pathankot, Jalandhar-Amritsar, Amritsar-Pathankot, Amritsar-Zira-Ganganagar, Ludhiana-Talwandi, Hoshiarpur-Jind, Kharar-Ludhiana, Kurali-Kirtapur Sahib, Zirakpur-Patiala, Zirakpur-Bathinda would be 4-6 laned.Today  addressing the gathering during the sports event at Village Chauke, Mr. Badal said that Punjab Government has prepared a comprehensive plan to strengthen the sports culture in the state and under this budding players would be admitted to the Punjab Institute of Sports where admission would take place from April , 2015. He asserted that Punjabi have a huge potential to perform at international sports and traditional games would be given top priority to register massive presence at International level. 

Talking about the strengthening of “Rajbahas” to assist the farming community Mr. Badal said that in first  phase Rs. 950 crore would be spent in Bathinda, Mansa and Barnala districts for brick lining of irrigation channels. Replying to a question about the coming Delhi assembly polls, Mr. Badal said that Sharomani Akali Dal would fight at 4 seats with the BJP alliance and party candidates would be announced soon.Mr. Badal has also announced  to set up the sports stadiums at Village Rampura and Mysekhana villages besides announcing Rs. 20 lakh for Chauke village sports stadium. Prominent amongst present on the occasion included Cabinet Minister Janmeja Singh Sekhon, MP Balwinder Singh Bhunder, DC Basant Garg and DIG Amar Singh  Chahal.
