Security Guard of NC legislator shot dead in Kulgam

Suspected militants Saturday shot dead the security guard of National Conference legislator from Homeshalibugh Assembly segment Abdul Majid Bhat Larm in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district. An elected Panch accompanying the deceased was also hit by a bullet and was shifted to SMHS hospital. National Conference Legislator Abul Majid Bhat Larmi informed CNS that the deceased Security Guard was his personal driver and was associated with him from past eight years. “The deceased security guard whom he identified as Zahoor Ahmed Dar was on his way to my office located at Wonpou Kulgam. He asked lift from one of his neighbours who was driving a motor-cycle. An unidentified gunman appeared on road near Reidwani Bala and fired upon my security guard. He breathed his last on way before reaching the hospital,” Larmi said adding that the deceased is survived by wife, two minor children, an unmarried sister and old aged father..

Reports said that the deceased was the son of elected National Conference Sarpanch Ghulam Rasool Dar and was killed by suspected militant when he was riding on a motor cycle of his neighbor Zahoor Ahmed Elahi. Elahi, the elected Panch also received bullet injury and according to doctors his condition is stable. “I don’t know who is behind the attack. The deceased sought lift from my son who was riding his scooter and suddenly somebody fired upon them. Our neighbor died while my son got injured,” Sara Bano, the mother of injured Panch from Havoora Mishpora told CNS in the hospital.SP Kulgam Mumtaz Ahmed told CNS that Zahoor Ahmad Dar died on the spot in the attack while another person, Zahoor Ahmad Elahi, was injured. It will be premature to say anything at this point of time. We have taken up the investigation and everything will be clear after few days,” he said. (CNS)
