The ambit of Post Matric Scholarship Scheme covers all the private and government school/colleges. The students belonging to the SC community studding in these institution are eligible for claiming Post Matric Scholarship for pursuing higher education. Acting swiftly on the directions of the Punjab State Schedule Caste Commission the Punjab Government has implemented this scheme in all these educational institutions. It was disclosed by Mr. Rajesh Kumar Bagah, Chairman, Punjab State SC Commission here today.Mr. Bagha said that the commission today held a meeting with the senior officers of the education and welfare departments. He said that the education department has tendered its written reply before the Punjab State SC Commission asserting that the instruction have been issued to all the Circle Education Officers and District Education Officers to ensure the implementation of the Post Matric Scholarship Scheme in all the private as well as government school/colleges. He said Mr. Kamal Garg DPI (Secondary Education) and Mr. Jaswinder Singh Gill, Deputy Director Welfare Department were present in the meeting besides members of SC Commission.

He said that the motive of this Post Matric Scholarship Scheme is to provide financial assistance to all the students belonging to SC community whose family income is less than Rs. 2 lakh per annum. Mr. Bagha further said that the Commission also held meeting with the State Urban Development Authority to review the implementation of Swaran Jiyanti Rozgar Yojna. He said that commission has directed the officers of the State Urban Development Authority to propagate the virtues of this scheme among the SC population of the state so that they could avail the benefit of this scheme. Mr.Harbhajan Singh, Additional Project Director attended the meeting besides other senior officer of the department.
