The first six months’ tenure of Narendra Modi led NDA government is akin to golden months of good governance laying foundation for a stronger India, said the Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Mr Vijay Sampla while addressing media persons today. In a tete-a-tete with the media gallery regarding achievements of the NDA government during the last six months, the Union Cabinet Minister said that in a short span the NDA Government has made many historical achievements. “The government has not only succeeded in making the life of common man convenient but also laid foundation of a strong India,” he said. Listing out the major achievements the MoS Mr Sampla said that NDA government has tethered inflation by establishing Price Stabilization Fund of Rs 500 cr while taking financial and administrative measures to contain it. Inflation based on Stock Price Index has slipped to a mere zero percent in December 2014 while this was 7.24% in October 2013 and 6.18% in May 2014 during the rule of UPA. “Similarly Inflation related to Consumer price Index reduced to 5.52% in October 2014 while it was 10.17% in October 2013 and 8.28% in may 2014. Petrol and diesel has also become cheaper,” he added. 

He added that creating jobs and promoting entrepreneurship has been top priority for which the NDA created separate ministry for the skill development of youth. The Make In India program was started to speed up area of infrastructure creating crores of jobs within few years to come. Following its zero tolerance policy towards abolishing corruption, the government initiated e-revolution project to abolish corruption using Information Technology and Rs 1 lac cr would be spent in coming years for the same. He said that keeping its promise with the nation of bringing back the black money stashed away in foreign accounts, the government created a Special Task Force.  After the PM Sh Narendra Modi designated this team, the Finance Ministry sent a high level delegation to Switzerland. 427 accounts of Indians were identified of which 250 people have accepted of possessing accounts. 

The biggest achievement has been weeding out policy paralysis under which first the Group of Ministers created in rule of UPA was dismantled. The Prime Minister encouraged to directly consult secretaries and bureaucracy to take decisions. This resulted in better coordination in different departments and Ministries and helping in the decision making process.Instead of creating states into islands, the Modi led NDA government worked like Team India, working closely with states. This resulted in providing timely relief to the victims of flood in Jammu and Kashmir and heavy storm in Orissa and Andhra Pradesh.

He added that the government has already begun work on creating 100 smart cities for which Rs 7060 Cr was allocated in the general budget. Realizing the need for hygiene, the government has launched Clean India drive ensuring clean India by 2019. This has turned into a movement for cleanliness and people are associating themselves from all walks of life.

Government has started Pradhan Mantri Saansad Aadarsh Gaon Yojna and under the program Members of Parliament have been allocated villages. Along with this work has started of Urban Yojna.Special efforts are being made for welfare of senior citizens as a result pension holders now will not have to go to  Govt offices to give proof of life every year in the month of November.Government has increased the tax relief from Rs.2 lakh to Rs.2.5 lakh and this relief extended from Rs.2.5 lakh to Rs.3 lakh for senior citizens. Due to the decrease in inflation and relief in income tax, middle class and lower middle class may be able to invest for its future.

Besides this special efforts are being made for economic reforms and fuelled growth rates, fulfilling aspirations of middle class and new middle class, make agriculture a profitable venture, clean Ganga campaign, protecting cows, scheme for poor’s financial inclusion under Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana, safeguarding interests of farmers and poor in WTO, introduced drastic changes in working of the government, increased FDI limit in defence sector and speeded up process of purchase for defence and many others.
