In the wake of BJP president Amit Shah getting acquitted in the Sohrabuddin Sheikh staged shootout case, the Trinamool Congress Tuesday said the CBI's credibility had been "broken irreparably"."CBI's credibility broken irreparably after today's hogwash. Amit Shah discharged in fake encounter case after top lawyers defend him for three days and CBI prosecutors get only 15 minutes," said Trinamool Rajya Sabha member Derek O'Brien.A special Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court in Mumbai ruled there was insufficient evidence against Shah who was charged along with 37 others, for the alleged fake gunfight in which gangster Sohrabuddin and his wife Kauser Bi, reportedly abducted by Gujarat's anti-terrorism squad, were killed near Gandhinagar in November 2005.Tulsiram Prajapati, an eyewitness to the incident, was killed by police in December 2006.

Welcoming Shah's acquittal, Bharatiya Janata Party national secretary S.N. Singh in turn charged the Trinamool of trying to abuse the legal system to save themselves from the Saradha scam probe. "The Trinamool should learn from BJP the way it submitted to the rule of law in Shah's case. Neck deep involved in the Saradha scam, the Trinamool want to abuse the Indian legal system by political offensive and not through legal offensive," he said."It shows that Trinamool either doesn't have faith in the rule of land or they know that in Saradha scam their leadership is at guilt," said Singh referring to the multi-crore rupee scam in which four of Trinamool leaders including its two MPs and state Transport Minister Madan Mitra are behind bars.
