At least six people were killed in a road accident when a lorry crashed into pedestrians Monday at the city centre in Glasgow, Scotland's largest city, the media reported.The accident occurred at 2.30 p.m. outside a hotel in George Square, which was cordoned off after the crash. "We don't believe there is anything sinister about the crash," Xinhua quoted the police as saying. The driver was taken to hospital for injury treatment.

The lorry moved at speed up Queen Street before crashing into the Millennium Hotel. Casualties were seen lying on the road, Sky TV reported citing eyewitnesses. The hotel was later evacuated. British Prime Minister David Cameron and Scottish First Minister Nicola Sturgeon both tweeted, expressing sympathies with the victims.
