Rs. 30 crore 86 lacs 62 thousand spent by Mandi Board for renovation of rural link roads: N.K.Sharma

Mandi board has spent Rs. 30 crore 86 lacs 62 thousand for the repair & renovation of around 200 Km rural link roads falling in Banur, Dera Bassi & Lalru areas. This was stated by Chief Parliamentary Secretary Industrial & Commerce, N.K.Sharma while he was non-formally addressing the press Conference during his visit at Chapper Chiri village.Sharma said that since Punjab Govt. is committed to provide better transportation facilities within the state as such the main highways are being connected with 4 lane and 6 lane national highways and on the other hand link road in the villages are being strengthened and widened. He further said that the residents of village Dhelpur & Tasoli have demanded for repair & renovation of this link road form a long time, as such this work has been done on priority basis. The link road serves to approximate 25 villages & connects them to nearby Kharar Landran highway. Also the road remains busy all the time. Besides this, a maximum resident of this area serves in various private & Govt. departments & dairy & farming being the main occupation for the remaining residents, which makes the road busier.

Sharma explained about the true facts & directed the Executive Engineer Mandi Board to expedite the repair & renovation work of this road. Sh.Sharma said that the tenders for the same have been called & Rs. 31 lacs 73 thousand will be spent for approximate 2.20 Km link road. He said that the outer periphery from school to Gurudwara Sahib, which has not been restored after sewerage work, will be taken up soon. The same will costs Rs. 20 lacs 57 thousand.During this, Sh. Sharma informed the press that Govt. of Punjab is taking each & every step for the development of villages of Punjab. As such, work for providing drinking water facility & laying of sewerage have been initiated. Besides above, Sewerage Treatment Plant will also be constructed. 

He said that Dera Bassi Block is being developed as a sample block, as such, Rs. 2 crore 10 lacs will be spent for its development, which will include paving of drains, roads & streets. Besides this, a grant of Rs. 5 crore 33 lacs have been provided to 80 Panchayats for development in villages. He said that the rural development is being done in a planned manner. During this Ex-President Municipal Council Sh. Kulwinder Singh Sohi, Chairman Market Committee Banur Sr. Sadu Singh Khalour & other reputed persons were present.
