No proposal for new security management body: Haribhai Parathibhai Chaudhary

There is no proposal to set up any new institution for for effective security management as the National Security Council, headed by the prime minister, is there to deliberate on all aspects of the issue, parliament was told Tuesday.Minister of State for Home Haribhai Parathibhai Chaudhary told the Lok Sabha in a written reply that ministers of home, defence, external affairs and finance were members of NSC and the national security advisor was its secretary. The three-tier structure of the NSC comprises the Strategic Policy Group (SPG), the National Security Advisory Board (NSAB) and the National Security Council Secretariat. 

The SPG, chaired by the cabinet secretary, is the principal forum for inter-ministerial coordination and integration of the relevant inputs, while the NSAB undertakes long-term analysis and provides perspectives on issues of national security."There is no proposal to set up any other institution or national security administrative service for effective security management in the country," Chaudhary said.
