Terming that either the implementation of UN resolutions or holding of talks between India, Pakistan and people of Jammu & Kashmir as the only way of finding a resolution to the Kashmir issue, Hurriyat Conference (M) chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq Monday said that the no other process can be substitute for their internationally recognized right to self determination.Mirwaiz, who was released after a week of house arrest, in a statement made it clear that the electoral exercise, repeated from time to time by India in Kashmir since 1947, “under the shadow of its military might can never be substitute to right to self determination for deciding the political future of Kashmiris.”“Kashmir issue is and will continue to be on UN agenda. The security of entire south Asia was at stake due to the lingering dispute. Staging elections in Kashmir for administrative purposes had never changed the disputed status of Kashmir in the past, nor would it change the historical and political reality of the issue in the future,” Mirwaiz asserted.

He said that Indian leadership has to realize that Kashmir issue is a living dispute and it has to be solved on urgent basis either by implementing UN resolutions or through dialogue between India, Pakistan and Kashmiri leadership.Meanwhile, Hurriyat (M) spokesman has expressed concern over the continuous arrest of senior leader, Mukhtar Ahmad Waza at Sherbagh police station Anantnag where he has been kept in 'Hawalat' from more than a month.

He also denounced the continuous house arrest of Hurriyat’s media advisor, Advocate Shahid-ul-Islam besides the detention of senior Hurriyat leaders Zaffar Akbar Bhat, Hakim Abdul Rashid, Syed Bashir Andrabi and other leaders and activists lodged in various jails across Kashmir. He said that jail manual was not followed in case of Kashmiri prisoners lodged in jails which was a cause of extreme concern.(KNS)
