Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) incarcerated chairman Mohammad Yasin Malik Sunday alleged that Kashmir witnessed a manipulated military and police operation in the name of democratic elections that have no moral, legal or constitutional standing.“People who despite intimidations and temptations stayed away from elections deserve appreciation and thanks,” Malik said in an emailed statement. While commenting upon the ongoing election process, he said, “A process staged through state manipulations, police intimidation's, arrests, restrictions, temptations and spreading false fear among common people can in no means be termed as democratic. Moreover a process in which rulers and their masters in Delhi chose to handcuff and arrest opponents was only a one sided match and a stage managed drama that has no moral, legal or constitutional validity.”

“If India and its Kashmiri stooges think that majority of people in Jammu Kashmir are with them and that these so called elections and voting’s are for India, they should immediately hold a referendum and let people decide about the future of Jammu Kashmir. The fact of the matter is that these elections have no bearing on political future dispensation of Jammu Kashmir and even United Nations resolution of late 50’s stand a witness to this fact. These elections are fought in the name of progress and day to day affairs and the people who contest in these elections befool common people in the name of Azadi, autonomy, self rule, achievable independence, incentives and so on,” Malik claimed.

He said that New Delhi has always tried to use elections to hoodwink international opinion on Jammu Kashmir and that is why we appeal people to boycott this process and people who chose to vote will soon know this reality and regret their mistake. Thanking people who despite many odds remained away from polls, Malik said, “Majority of the people in Srinagar Islamabad and Shupian today boycotted the elections and protested against this at many places. We are thankful to them and they deserve appreciation for their valor passion and understanding.”Malik said that majority of people boycotted today, “that is why bogus voting’s and large scale rigging was done at many places to enhance voting percentages.” “India and its Kashmiri stooges should know that these gimmicks and dramas cannot defeat the courage of a nation that has sacrificed its more than 100 thousand people for its freedom and dignity,” the JKLF chairman said.

Paying rich tributes to Kashmiri freedom fighter and leader Sofi Mohammad Akbar, Malik said, “He was a man of principles who chose the path of thorns for the dignity and freedom of Jammu Kashmir.”Meanwhile JKLF incarcerated vice chairman advocate Bashir Ahmad Bhat in an emailed statement also paid rich tributes to late Akbar and said that his sacrifices and struggle are a role model for generations to come. A JKLF delegation led by district president Baramullah Abdul Rashid Magloo visited the graveyard of late leader and offered Fateh to him. Magloo was accompanied by Ghulam Qadir Khan, Molvi Reyaz and Mohammad Azeem Zargar. He also addressed a gathering on the occasion, the statement added.
