LoC gunfight ends: one more militant killed

The fierce gunfight that had erupted between militants and army troopers near Line of Control (LoC) in Nowgam sector of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district ended on Wednesday with the killing of one more militant.The fierce gunfight left 6 militants and 1 army officer dead while three soldiers were also injured in Tut Mari Gali area of Nowgam sector.An army officer told GNS that the last hiding militant was killed at around 11:00 in the morning. “The search operation is on in the area,” he said.The slain officer was identified as Sobedar Ajay Vardhan of 14 Gadwal regiment.A defence spokesman said six AK rifles, one pistol and a large quantity of warlike stores were recovered from the dead militants.
