Sensex trades flat; auto stocks plunge

A benchmark index of Indian equities markets Tuesday was trading flat at 38 points or 0.13 percent down as auto stocks plunged.Selling pressure was seen in auto, banking and IT sectors, while marginal good buying was observed in healthcare sector.The 30-scrip Sensitive Index (Sensex) of the S&P Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), which opened at 28,522.46 points, was trading at 28,521.62 points (at 09.17 a.m.) in the early session, down 38.00 points or 0.13 percent from the previous day's close at 28,559.62 points.

The Sensex touched a high of 28,522.46 points and a low of 28,480.38 points in the trade so far.The S&P auto index plunged by 105.52 points, bankex went down by 104.91 points and IT index slipped by 61.86 points. However, healthcare index gained by 47.35 points.The wider 50-scrip Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) was also trading 32.35 points or 0.38 percent down at 8,555.90 points.
