Senior National Conference leader Ali Muhammad Sagar while continuing with his election campaign in his constituency, Monday hit out hard at PDP accusing them of ‘neglecting’ the Srinagar city out rightly.Sagar while touring the areas – Lone Mohalla, Chachoo Mohalla, Riyazat Teng and Roza Bal, addressed numerous gatherings and said people are well aware of the developmental activities being undertaken by the National Conference led government. “National Conference took historic decisions and worked tremendously for the improvement of standard infrastructure in the old city, the result of which is that people in the old city have time and again reposed their faith in the NC government. We hope you will continue this trend in the ongoing elections and give a befitting reply to the pisive forces who did nothing for the Srinagar city,” Sagar said.

He said that for better traffic mobility in the old city Srinagar, the work on prestigious Meerak Shah Road Project has been expedited besides in health sector several measures have been started like the construction of Super Specialty Hospitals at Shreen Bagh and JLNM Rainawari have been undertaken. He said that a comprehensive project for developing the old city Srinagar on heritage basis has been initiated so that the whole of the area comes within the tourist circuit which would go a long way in accelerating the economic activities of this part of the city.

Taking a dig at the PDP for ‘neglecting’ the Srinagar city and for having nefarious designs towards the summer capital, Sagar said, “The government led by Mufti Mohammad Sayeed was all set to shift the capital from Srinagar to Parihaspora which would have eventually dented and deserted this cultural centre.”“A cursory look at the candidates nominated by this party should give people an idea what their plans about the city are,” Sagar said and continued “The party has chosen anti-social elements, corrupt entities and people involved in malpractice as their candidates for the city.”

He said the National Conference is the only guaranty for the betterment of the people of Srinagar and it is recorded history that these people (PDP) were responsible for stalling various prestigious projects of the Srinagar city and are now trying to mislead the people for their ulterior political motives. “The work on various prestigious projects like Syed Meerak Shah Road, Khanyar-Zakoora Road Project and other similar projects meant for the holistic development of the old city Srinagar were put at back burner by these people,’’ he maintained.Asserting that Mufti is the ‘root of political instability’ in the state, Sagar alleged, “Mufti was the biggest tormentor and killer of the youth of Kashmir.

It was Mufti Sayeed who started repression and bloodshed in Kashmir during this tenure as home minister of India and then by sending Jagmohan as the State's Governor which resulted in large scale massacres of innocent people across Kashmir valley.”“And then he was instrumental in imposing Disturbed Areas Act (DAA) and Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) in the State. And again in 2008 he was responsible for the killing of over 80 youngsters during the land row. Mufti Sayeed defended the armed forces on the floor of the Indian Parliament who were accused of the Kunan Poshpora mass rape allegation. Mufti Sayeed called these women liars and exaggerators on the floor of the Parliament,” he alleged.

Sagar claimed that National Conference believed in sustained action rather than misleading people by propagating hypocrisy and falsehood. “The People should understand that the parties who are projecting themselves as champions of the Srinagar have subjected it to the worst form of discrimination, Now, they are trying to mislead the people by spreading lies and trying to undermine the various initiatives taken by the Government for ensuring holistic development of the city,” he asserted.
